UDF AGRICULTURE EXPORT PROGRAMME
INCLUSIVE GROWTH THROUGH TRADE. FOOD SECURITY FOR ALL.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) AGRICULTURE EXPORT PROGRAMME (AEP) is a pioneering solution to the long-standing exclusion of Black farmers from global markets. Designed to uplift producers across South Africa — particularly those in rural, township, and communal settings. The AEP removes systemic barriers to market access, export readiness, and enterprise sustainability.
Through this programme, participating farmers are supported to produce high-quality agricultural products for international buyers. These include Grade A beef (fed weaners and male calves), lamb (kraal-fed), broilers, mutton, goats, and various crops. In return, farmers benefit from a direct export pipeline that offers quick payment, global exposure, and long-term buyer relationships.
Many Black farmers face significant limitations – from lack of formal land ownership to capital constraints and logistical challenges. The UDF and its partner consortium have resolved these bottlenecks by offering financing support, regulatory guidance, compliance coaching, and market facilitation. Whether a producer is registered on private land or communal tenure, they are supported to meet international standards.
The programme also prioritises youth and women farmers, who are often excluded from mainstream agricultural opportunities. Through the UDF Youth Council, dedicated mentorship, training, and onboarding support is provided to young people passionate about agriculture and economic development. The initiative offers a real path to wealth creation and transformation through farming.
More than an economic initiative, this programme is rooted in food justice, land reform, and inclusive growth. It is a direct response to the historic marginalisation of Black producers and aims to build an agricultural sector that reflects the diversity, capacity, and ambition of South Africa’s people.
We call on all eligible farmers and agricultural cooperatives to join this movement. If you are ready to grow your enterprise and step into the global stage, the UDF AEP is here to walk that journey with you.
This is more than an export drive. It’s a movement for equity, dignity, and shared prosperity in South Africa’s food economy.
